Human Resources Coordinator (part-time) Job Description
Organization: RISE St. James Louisiana
Position Type: Part-Time (15–25 hours per week)
Reports To: Executive Director FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary
RISE St. James Louisiana is seeking a detail-oriented and people-centered partHuman Resources Coordinator to support the organization’s growing team. The HR Coordinator will manage day-to-day human resources functions, ensure compliance with employment laws and nonprofit best practices, and foster a positive workplace culture. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about mission-driven work and enjoys building strong organizational systems.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources Administration
- Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding.
- Maintain confidential personnel files and HR records.
- Process employment documents, including offer letters, job descriptions, and policy acknowledgments.
- Ensure completion of required hiring paperwork (I-9, W-4, state tax forms, direct deposit, etc.).
- Assist with maintaining the employee handbook and HR policies.
Recruitment & Hiring
- Post job openings on employment websites and nonprofit job boards.
- Screen applications and coordinate interviews.
- Conduct reference and background checks.
- Prepare employment offers and onboarding schedules.
Payroll & Benefits
- Coordinate payroll documentation with the payroll provider.
- Track employee time records and leave balances.
- Assist employees with benefits enrollment and questions.
- Maintain workers’ compensation and unemployment records.
Employee Relations
- Serve as a point of contact for HR-related questions.
- Assist in resolving employee concerns professionally and confidentially.
- Support performance evaluation processes.
- Promote employee engagement and workplace wellness initiatives.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Maintain required labor law postings and HR documentation.
- Assist with audits and grant-related personnel documentation.
- Maintain records in accordance with nonprofit and funding requirements.
Training & Organizational Support
- Coordinate employee orientation and required trainings.
- Support leadership with organizational development initiatives.
- Assist in developing HR procedures and operational improvements.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of HR or administrative experience.
- Experience working in a nonprofit organization is preferred.
- Knowledge of payroll processes and employment laws.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Experience with HRIS or payroll software is a plus.

Compensation
- Part-time, approximately 15–25 hours per week.
