THE PLASTICS PANDEMIC - BROUGHT TO YOU BY RISE St. JAMES UNIVERSITY

Plastics present numerous environmental and health challenges, including pollution, wildlife impact, plastic leaching into the bloodstream, emissions, microplastics, and more. Despite these concerns, plastics remain popular due to their affordability and convenience. Participants will explore the fundamental issues surrounding plastics, learning about their detrimental effects on the environment and human health. Through this course, individuals will gain insights into how plastic usage and manufacturing contribute to a range of environmental and health problems, fostering a deeper understanding of the need for sustainable alternatives and responsible consumption practices.

The course will be held on Tuesdays at 6pm CST:

  • Tuesday, April 23, 2024, Plastic Pollution - Judith Enck, Beyond Plastics and Bennington College

  • Tuesday, April 30, 2024, Plastics and Your Health - Angelle Bradford - Sierra Club Delta Chapter

75% of the seats are available for residents of St. John the Baptist, St. James, and St. Charles Parishes; there are no restrictions on the remaining 25% of the seats.
